Designed specifically as a family legacy home, the proposed residence replaced an existing residence on an infill lot in a gated coastal subdivision. Admiring the rich local architectural history, the clients researched various architects with predominantly contemporary/modern bodies of work. Primarily to be used as a seasonal vacation/family gathering location, the residence is divided into seven private guest suites with common interior and exterior gathering and living spaces. Utilizing simplistic and minimalistic detailing and finishes, the project integrates both natural and synthetic materials. The “W” shaped roof was designed to imitate the wings of a native coastal bird that once became somewhat of a pet to the original residence. BACK TO PROJECTS
